San Marco Mountain Tips Valfredda – Fuciade Refuge

Valfredda is a locality of Falcade (Belluno) in the Dolomites, a Unesco World Heritage Site. It is about 10 kilometers from Passo San Pellegrino and is located on the border with Trentino, exactly with the municipality of Soraga and the locality of Fuciade. Valfredda is easy to reach, passing Passo San Pellegrino and following the signs for the Flora Alpina refuge (1860 m.) where there is a convenient parking area. The path to Valfredda starts near the Refuge following the well-signposted CAI path. It looks like a steep climb, but only for a few tens of meters. Once the climb has been overcome, we see the first peaks. We are at the foot of the Marmolada Group and the Pale di San Martino, continuing until we find ourselves in front of a postcard image, many small wooden huts that follow the path that climbs gently towards the surrounding peaks. The huts were once used as a shelter for shepherds, while today they are suggestive huts for lodging in the mountains. Continuing along the CAI 670 path, after about another hour and a half of walking, you reach the enchanting Fuciade refuge.
